Breitbart has an interesting article up about the latest Common Core State Standards skirmish between the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) and the Fordham foundation.

The HSLDA released a very powerful documentary video about Common Core on Monday.

Common Core supporter Fordham (which has received money from the Gates Foundation) was seriously stung by the movie and immediately released a critique that didn’t win any admiration from Breitbart’s education writer.

What makes this a Kentucky story is that Breitbart picked up on Kentucky Senator Katie Stine’s recent Op-Ed in the Herald-Leader, which does a nice job outlining how Common Core misses the mark for kids and also does not fully meet muster against Kentucky’s Senate Bill 1 from the 2009 regular legislative session.

Congratulations to Sen. Stine for getting this stuff right and getting a national media pickup for talking about a system where Kentucky public school students have no choice but to participate.
