Common Core about to get dumped in Indiana
Hearings on a bill to drop Common Core in Kentucky tomorrow
It looks like Indiana is going to dump the Common Core State Standards. According to Chalkbeat Indiana, that state’s senate just voted 35 to 13 to drop Common Core by July 1, 2014. The bill now goes to Indiana Governor Mike Pense’s desk for signing, an act the news article seems to indicate is likely.
Meanwhile, tomorrow at 11:30 AM in the Capitol Annex the Kentucky Senate’s Education Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on Common Core problems and a newly introduced bill, Senate Bill 224, that would remove these troubled standards in Kentucky, as well.
While not currently on the schedule, the committee's hearing could possibly be carried on KET online. Check KET's Web site tomorrow morning for the final schedule.
