Kentucky’s education commissioner tells feds where to get off!

Wow! It looks like the US Department of Education has now gone too far. Even the ever-federal-tax-dollar-chasing Kentucky Department of Education has had enough!

WLKY has the details of this remarkable development where federal demands for Kentucky to do nonsense things like testing with obsolete tests are getting the cold shoulder in the Bluegrass State.

To be perfectly clear, I am not necessarily in favor of some of the actual plans Kentucky has for education going forward (Example: I have great concerns about some proposals for the new science tests – too much like the failed KIRIS Performance Events), but I am convinced that some of the federal over-reach is counter-productive for our kids and needs to be stopped. I’d rather deal with education policy issues closer to home rather than rely on bureaucrats from Washington trying to manage from afar.

Apparently, Commissioner Pruitt is starting to agree.
