“The problem with artificially raising the minimum wage by governmental decree is that the good intentions never quite materialize as they were supposed to and are often accompanied by a host of deleterious effects,” writes Michael Keck of Science Hill in a letter to the editor published in Wednesday’s Lexington Herald-Leader.

Keck takes the newspaper to task for its recent editorial supporting a wrongheaded proposal to raise Kentucky’s minimum wage, saying the Jan. 12 article “aims to stifle debate” by claiming “there is ‘virtually no research’ that shows employers will cut jobs in response to raising the wage.”
