State Integrity Investigation rates Kentucky as a 'C-'

A recent investigation by State Integrity graded all 50 states on transparency, accountability, and corruption found Kentucky with a poor grade of 'C-'. Not good.

Office holders must disclose businesses, property, and investments in which they have interests over a certain amount, but that is all. As a result, the public doesn’t know if the interest is worth $10,000 or $100,000 or $10 million.

This process involves moving an employee from a non-merit, political position into a merit position so that he or she will be protected by the merit system when the next elected official enters office.

The Bluegrass Institute  will continue the fight for transparency and accountability in Kentucky. This report cards shows there is a lot of work yet to be done.
