Passing Kentucky’s first school choice laws in 2021 that gives students throughout Kentucky the ability to choose the best public school for them, gives students with demonstrated need access to grants for educational expenses like tutoring and allows students in the largest counties (90,000 and over) the opportunity to receive scholarships for private school tuition.
Reforming the Teachers’ Retirement System to stop the growth of TRS' unfunded liabilities through BIPPS proposal of a hybrid plan for new teachers in 2021.
Influencing the state’s budget priorities to include historic deposits in the state’s rainy day fund.
Adoption of BIPPS’ solution to provide relief to quasi-governmental agencies that are part of KRS.
Heading off a gas tax hike for multiple years.
Stopping governors from reorganizing an entire board based solely on ideological politics by requiring legislative approval for board reorganizations.
Limiting the power and scope of gubernatorial executive orders in a state of emergency.
Passing right-to-work ordinances at the county level to improve Kentucky’s competition for investment and jobs. This momentum climaxed in Kentucky becoming the 27th right-to-work state in January 2017.
Pushing back against the prior Obama administration’s war on coal.
Forcing government transparency through open records requests & investigative reporting.
Subjecting politicians’ pension benefits to Kentucky Open Records Act.
Providing education research to aid meaningful change to the education bureaucracy.
