Age 18 parent survey???

I’m starting to hear some doubts about the recent survey of parents that supposedly says something like 85 percent of Kentuckians would like to see a minimum dropout age of 18 in Kentucky.

Some of those concerns involve this graphic, which supposedly shows educational backgrounds of the parents surveyed.

Aside from some obvious graphing errors (e.g. High school graduates and college graduates are supposedly each 41 percent of the sample, but the pie graph isn’t divided that way), do these numbers make sense?

http://www.nchems.org/c2sp/documents/KentuckyAdultProfile.pdf says among age 25 to 64 year olds in Kentucky, 14.4 percent had no high school diploma in 2010. For the younger age group of 18 to 24, it was 16.8 percent. That’s a lot more than one percent sampled in this category for the survey.

Data for 2009 from the US Census Bureau

http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/2012/tables/12s0233.pdf says only 21 percent of Kentuckians age 25 or older held at least a bachelor’s degree or more in 2009. Granted, the poll only looked at parents, but can it really be we have that many more graduates among our younger adult group? If someone has Census data that only covers education for young adults in Kentucky, that would be interesting.
