I have written a number of times about evidence that Kentucky’s Common Core aligned KPREP tests are showing signs of inflation over time. That includes this four-part series which compares the KPREP to National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) scores for Kentucky:

I also summarized findings from a national report that shows as of 2015 that Kentucky’s home-grown KPREP tests show more scoring inflation than is found in most other states.

Now, it looks like Kentucky isn’t the only state that is obviously starting to inflate Common Core aligned tests. The New York Post just blew the whistle on obvious inflationary changes in scoring for New York State testing.

Of interest, New York was the second state after Kentucky to implement Common Core aligned testing. Kentucky started Common Core testing in the 2011-12 school term and New York jumped aboard in 2012-13. So, both of the lead states for Common Core State Standards now have some credibility problems for their tests. Consider that the next time you hear claims about progress under Common Core.
