Bluegrass Institute President Jim Waters the keynote speaker at the 2013 Freedom-Liberty Conference

Bluegrass Institute President Jim Waters will be the keynote speaker at the fourth annual Commonwealth Freedom-Liberty Conference on Friday, Aug. 23 and Sat., Aug. 24 at the Griffin Gate Marriott Resort 1800 Newtown Pike in Lexington.

Organizer Richard Treitz stated that the goal of the conference is to empower Americans so that "liberty and freedom will naturally and rightfully begin to be restored."

Waters will address the need for education reform based on parental school choice in an address entitled "What do 42 states know that Kentucky doesn't know?" at the Patriots' Banquet on Sat., Aug. 24, at 6:30 p.m.

Past speakers at the event have included former House Majority Leader Dick Arney, the late Andrew Breitbart and Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America.

The conference includes "A Night of Jazz with Jessie Laine Powell" on Friday evening, breakfast with Northern Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie at 7 a.m. on Saturday and two nationally acclaimed movies about school choice, "Waiting for Superman" and "Cartel" at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Registration begins at 5 p.m. on Aug. 23.
