Corbin teachers get training on how to use high tech in their classrooms

It’s the kind of teacher professional development I like to hear about – something actually useful. In this case, teachers in the Corbin Independent School District got two days of training on some really useful digital tools like Google Docs and Google Earth along with examples of how to use those in their own classrooms.

Corbin will allow students to bring their own devices like smart phones, laptops and tablets to school this year for in-class use. So, the opportunity for teachers to use high tech will never be better.

Now that Corbin’s teachers have been given some ideas about how to actually use technology to enhance their instruction, use is undoubtedly going to go up in this high-performing school system (see my post yesterday about how innovative Corbin ranks dramatically better against its adjoining district, the Knox County Public School District).
