Education Town Hall meetings announced for Kentuckians

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has announced a series of “Town Hall” meetings on education that will be held around Kentucky over the next month or so. Per the KDE’s news release, the purpose of these meetings is:

“…to gather feedback from Kentuckians on how they define school success.”

The news release continues:

“The ideas and suggestions collected at the meetings will be used by the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) to inform the development of a new and more effective accountability system”

The release also says:

“Additionally, those who are unable to attend the meetings, will still have the opportunity to submit their suggestions and comments at: KyEdListens@education.ky.gov.

KDE will provide updates on the meetings on its Facebook page and Twitter account @KyDeptofEd. A dedicated hashtag, #KyEdListens, also has been created for the events.”

This is a good opportunity for Kentuckians to meet their new commissioner of education face-to-face and let him hear what you and your children need his education system to provide. The commissioner said in a meeting I attended yesterday that he will be at the Town Halls to listen. He won’t know what you are thinking if you don’t take him up on that claim.
