Herald-Leader's guide to legislative session

Over the weekend, the Lexington Herald-Leader published a list of issues to watch for in the upcoming 2012 legislative session. The list is not even close to being complete but does provide a nice overview of what is expected to be the focus of the session. View the list here.

Two issues that were not mentioned that would be on my personal wish list to be addressed would be:

  1. Charter school legislation -  This is something Kentucky needs yesterday. Parents deserve choices with regards to how their children are educated.

  2. Public pension reform - The Herald-Leader's article does mention pension transparency and legislative pension reform but honestly, the entire system needs an overhaul. For more, see this brief discussion.

Hopefully our legislators will act in a manner consistent with the defense of Kentuckian's freedoms.
