Here's a modern history maker - Blacks in Georgia's charter schools tied Kentucky's white students in math and reading in 2019
It’s simply remarkable, historic, even. Worth a shout out:
In 2019 testing with the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), after considering the sampling errors in the NAEP scores, Black students in Georgia’s charter schools tied performance with white students in Kentucky’s traditional public school system. Kentucky currently has no charter schools, by the way.
This historic event in the struggle to eliminate achievement gaps makes Kentucky’s failure to date to actually achieve better school choice options for students, especially its Black students, that much more problematic.
History is being made in Black student education – elsewhere.
