How Common Core is impacting kids in Massachusetts
By most accounts, Massachusetts used to have the best education standards in the country before Common Core State Standards came along. For example, around half a decade after switching to those former, outstanding standards, the Bay State blasted its way to the top on both reading and mathematics on the federal National Assessment of Educational Progress.
Now, Massachusetts parents are starting to wake up to the realities of Common Core, including the movement of Algebra I from the eighth to the ninth grade.
