We are counting down the top 30 reasons to donate $17.92 each month to the Bluegrass Institute as part of our 1792: Never Out of Date campaign.

Reason #29 to donate: Kentucky currently has a $40 billion unfunded public pension liability. The state can no longer afford to subsidize the gold-plated pensions of the General Assembly which has legislated itself into prosperity. We need bold solutions for a pending disaster.

Lowell Reese, owner of Kentucky Roll Call and author of The Bluegrass Institute's recent pension exposé, had this to say about our efforts for public pension reform:

The Bluegrass Institute has definitely driven the dialogue in my assessment. The institute deserves great credit for significantly increasing the awareness level on the pension issue among public employees and the general public.
