Spending cuts? What spending cuts?
Former Gov. Steve Beshear claims his administration cut government spending by $1.6 billion. The evidence suggests just the opposite -- General Fund spending in Kentucky has grown by nearly that much just since 2010. While spending did decrease between 2008-10, those cuts were wiped out by Frankfort's spending spree since then. Overall, between 2007, when Besehar took office, and 2014, General Fund spending rose nearly $2 billion.
