Is education on the right track?

Friedman 2014 Education Survey

The 2014 version of The Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice’s annual public survey is out, and I will be spending some time over the next few days going through some of the findings.

Today, we look at what you think about the overall direction of education in the United States. Very simply, most of you are not happy with our public school system.

Note that the figures don’t all add to 100 percent because some respondents chose a don’t know sort of answer.

For example, the top line of data for “American Adults” only includes 91 percent of the total survey respondents. Apparently nine percent of the total sample didn’t answer this question.

In this case, if we only consider answers for those who felt they knew enough to have an opinion, it turns out that 58 out of 91, or 64 percent, feel schools are on the wrong track.

In any event, Friedman’s new survey shows that for those respondents who have an opinion about our public schools, it is clear a significant majority are unhappy.
