Milton Friedman Day at the ballpark: A home run for school choice!

While Milton Friedman won the Nobel Prize for his economic theories, he and wife Rose Friedman spent the last decade of his life totally committed to growing the nation's school choice movement, including using his resources to create and fund the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice. Each year, the Bluegrass Institute joins the Friedman Foundation and free-market groups across the country to honor the legacy of this great ambassador for freedom!

Friedman not only accomplished a great deal in his long life, he also very obviously enjoyed the journey toward his achievements.

In honor of that, the Institute celebrated this year's Friedman day with a fun event in the Triple Play Suite @ Louisville Slugger Field, where the Bats won an exciting game -- just like school choice is beginning to win in the Bluegrass State.

Among the guests attending were gubernatorial candidate Hal Heiner, Mendell Grinter, new state director of the Black Alliance for Educational Options, Kentucky Charter Schools Association chairman Dr. Wayne Lewis, and Kentucky Youth Advocates executive director Terry Brooks. All made comments supporting the effort to bring public charter schools to Kentucky.

Also joining us were other guests and friends from the city's West End, including Pastor Jerry Stephenson, who leads a coalition of black pastors supporting school choice, and some of his family members.

Thanks to all who came, supported school choice and had a great evening of fun ... and some pretty good baseball, too!
