Mitchell: The wrong debate!
Mercatus Center scholar Matthew Mitchell was absolutely on point in his recent commentary about the current health care debate.
Mitchell argues the wrong debate is being had. Rather than focusing on "government" versus "business" the debate should be more about government intervention in general:
Government works best when it refuses to pick winners and losers. And the private sector works best when businesses rise or fall based on the value they provide to consumers.
Unfortunately we see government picking winners and losers all the time in Kentucky and it is not just related to health care. Most recently government chose a "winner" in the form of providing tax incentives for a new theme park.
Health care, as Mitchell has pointed out, is merely the most recent victim of government picking winners and losers.
