Charter School Types Vary

It’s national school choice week, and as part of the Bluegrass Institute’s observations we are featuring a series of videos on school choice issues of interest here in Kentucky. Our first blog for the week released yesterday and dealt with some general questions about what charter schools actually are.

In today’s video, we hear more specifics about the amazing varieties of charter schools that can be found in Ohio. This will give you some idea about how charter school programs could even serve the most isolated rural areas of the Bluegrass State.

Unfortunately, our biggest choice issue in the Bluegrass State is that we have about the most limited school choice options of any state in the nation. While 42 states now have public charter schools, which offer parents an alternative choice from traditional public schools, Kentucky has yet to enact the required legislation.

So, let us take this week to bring you (and your friends – please share the links) up to speed on what charter schools are and how they could benefit Kentucky.
